TITLE: Dimensional Gateway NAME: Daniel Bray COUNTRY: Australia EMAIL: danielb@ozemail.com.au WEBPAGE: http://www.ozemail.com.au/~danielb TOPIC: Pysics and Maths COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: gateway.jpg ZIPFILE: gateway.zip RENDERER USED: POV-RAY TOOLS USED: Torpatch and terrain maker RENDER TIME: 3.5 hours HARDWARE USED: Generic Pentium 100 40Mb ram and standard 1Meg video card IMAGE DESCRIPTION: It is basicaly a desk in a science lab where the development of a Dimensional Gateway is in progress. I got the idea to render a gateway after seeing a program on TV about worm holes in the fabric of space. It was suggested that these worm holes were able to be simulated in a lab and one day maybe even controlled in the sense of being able to set the point at the other side. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: There were no great feats of trickery in creating this image. Enough time (and cups of tea ,bourbon and beer) spent creating enough objects and CSGs was all that was used and two 3rd party utility programs, TORPATCH to create the lead coming from the mouse and TERRAIN MAKER to create the bitmap for the hieght field used in the mountain range in the background. The rest are just functions included in POV-RAY which has become my favorite PC application to date. It was also a good way of using my new scanner for the mouse mat which is a model of my own current Homer Simpson mouse mat (hope I dont't get sued) and the paper which is my own handwriting.......
