So I took that and thought of the environment it would be in. Of course there had to be some glass objects around it. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: The first object I made was the bottle. I created this with Rhino. Rhino is a NURBS based modeller that is currently in public beta (the final product will be around 800 dollars (US) maybe my math skills will be up to making a free NURBS based modeller :-). Anyway I drew the outline and made a Surface of revolution out of it. I then made a simple cork to go into it using a SurfORev. The bottle has an indentation on the bottom of it and a bulge in the middle. Then I went and made the 'glass'. I think I did fairly good with it. There is a little lip on the rim of the glass and the bottom is tapered with a curve in it. Also in the center of the glass at the bottom is that point that makes glasses look like they were made on a lathe :-). After that I had to make something that spilled out of the glass so I made the ice cubes. They are the kind that you find in automatic ice makers. Then I 'melted' one by csg subtracting part of it and took a chunk out of the other one. Glasses seemed a natural extension to the scene and so I went to work on those next. I drew the outline of the lenses then extruded that to make a solid. However that made flat lenses. So I took really big spheres and intersected them to give them a curve. Then I made the rails by extruding through some shapes along a path. Then I mirrored that and added a bridge (made the bridge by extruding through a curved path again). Then I made the wet spot by drawing an outline and making a surface out of it. On to the ship. I made the sail first by drawing an outline of it then making a surface out of it. Then I made two poles for the mast and cross brace. Then I made the keel by extruding a square through a path. Then made the two rails on the side of the boat the same way. Then I made the hull out of lines on the keel and rail. After I did all this in rhino I created meshes of raw smooth triangles. Sadly of course Povray doesnt support NURB surfaces. Anyway all of these objects came to about 20-25 megs of povray source. If anyone is interested I will provide the NURBs source and the Smooth Triangle source. I then used Moray to scale and place the objects in the scene. I also created the wall behind the bottle and the table and the 3 light sources. I have 2 area lights and a spotlight. There are also walls on every side of the rendering to give the various glass objects something to reflect. I used moray to tweak with the standared textures.
