COUNTRY: Austrailia WEBPAGE: www.ozemail.com.au/~no13 RENDERER USED: povray 3 for windows TOOLS USED: Paintshop pro 4, texture magic, colormixwer 2 RENDER TIME: 3 hours 27 mintes HARDWARE USED: Pentium 133 with 64Mb of ram. Windows NT4 os. IMAGE DESCRIPTION: This image is of a game of marbles from an ants perspective. It shows the results of an impact between two marbles and how it effects the local ant population. Like many simple games there is money at stake. This is my second render for glass. The first is till under development. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: This image was my first real attempt at using the rand function within a while loop. All the grass and flowers are created using this technique. The scattering pebbles from the marble impact were also done this way (As well as the bubbles inside the marbles. You can see them if you look realy hard). As the image was from an ants perspective I used the depth of field feature. This also meant that I could reduce the detail of the background. For a little added detail I used a bump map, made in Paint Shop Pro, on the marbles for some scratches and dints. The texture on the ground plane was created using Texture Magic and an un-offical command line compile of Povray3 for Win NT by Eric C. Lee (elee@microsoft). A little crand was added to the plane for effect. Little features that add to the image are the caustics for the marbles and the iridescence on the ants bodies. All modeling for this image was done directly into the Povray 3 text editer.
