I've always wanted to do picture like this and I guess the competition was the
motivation.

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: 
The ground is one of the stock stone textures with the starfield from my website
uaed as a bump
map. The cat's eye marbles are unions of spheres and planes, with a diamond
shape image map
projected on the plane.
