TITLE: Sonya's Tree NAME: Robert Lowell COUNTRY: USA EMAIL: lowellr@globaldialog.com WEBPAGE: None TOPIC: Glass COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: araml4.jpg ZIPFILE: araml4.zip RENDERER USED: TOOLS USED: RENDER TIME: HARDWARE USED: IMAGE DESCRIPTION: We were almost done with winter. The ice on the lake was finally breaking up. The trees were starting to bud and then we get another Sleet storm and winter is back. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: I started with the tree file. The bark texture is T_Glass3A. The leaf texture is T_Green_Glass. I left the unions in the tree file as unions instead of change them to merges because the effect of a ice covered tree was closer. The ice fields and moutains are the plasma3.gif pulled, stretched, and otherwise maulled into shape. The lakes and river are a plane. The porch is built block by block in a series of loops. The lamp is a glass cylinder with the light source inside The wind chime is another set of loops and glass shapes Rendering with the follwing setting Width=800 Height=600 Antialias_Depth=3 Antialias=On Antialias_Threshold=0.1 Jitter_Amount=0.5 Jitter=On global_settings { max_trace_level 8 adc_bailout 9/255 assumed_gamma 2.2 } started at the rate of 30 LINES per 18 hrs. which means this would have been submitted sometime in mid-March I then rendered the "outside" at the same settings (26 hrs), mapped it to a box and scaled it to fit the screen. I then rendered the "inside" along with the "outside on a box" (3 hrs) and quit while I was behind. The source code is being provided with the following warning. I am not "neat" The "outside" .tga file is not being provided (1.4 meg) but can be regenerated by running the marked files.
