RENDERER USED: POVRAY 3.0 TOOLS USED: Breeze 2.0 Blob Sculptor 2.0 Terrain Maker 1.1 Jason Widdy's Star Field Simulator RENDER TIME: 15 minutes HARDWARE USED: Pentium 100 (40MB RAM) IMAGE DESCRIPTION: "What are those stupid humans up to now?" This is just a fun scene inspired by my fiancee. Two aliens are lounging around on the moon watching the humans and their flying machines on TV. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: I must have went through about 20 rough pencil sketches before I came up with a concept that "looked right." The aliens were made with blob sculptor and imported in to Breeze. The height field was choked out of Terrain Maker (we don't get along too well). Everything else is made from primitives, except the TV screen. I used a Bezier Patch to get the screen curve (which you can't really see in the final picture. *sigh*). I used a 2x2 area light to simulate light coming from the TV screen, but again, it's not too noticeable. The earth map is courtesy of James Hastings-Trew, as is the cloud map. I used the suggestions on the web site I got them from, but the clouds just didn't show up very well. There's nothing exceptionally clever about what I did, so I didn't include the source files. If you'd like them, drop me an e-mail and I'd be happy to send them to you.
