IMAGE DESCRIPTION: An Avro Triplane IV (from 1910) is scaring the birds over London. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: I started out with the triplane, but found that a pure sky background was too simple, so I threw in the dome of St.Pauls, which I happened to have lying around from another project. Still having some time left till deadline, I got the idea of having a bird try to avoid the propeller. In the last minute I decided to have another bird fleeing towards the camera. All is modelled in CSG. There is 15673 frame level objects in the scene (14510 in the dome, most of them outside the picture, 975 in the plane and 94 in each bird). The plane and the dome of St. Pauls are modelled after pictures in Dorling Kindersley Ultimate Visual Dictionary (a goldmine for people like me, who can't make objects from their imagination). The birds are based on various pictures of gulls, found on the Web.
