They were manifest not just in built architecture but in other areas of art such as painting. When the topic of flight was announced the first thing I thought of was a lithograph I had seen from this period showing a vertical city. The city was built in a Neo Classical style with balloons as the main mode of transport. The balloons resembled sailing ships. I used this image as the inspiration for my entry. Being an Architect I've decided to incorporate more architectural elements into my entries while still being true to the topic. It will be interesting to see if I can pull it off. The image shows a flying ship, a romantic (flight of fantasy) setting and a flight of stairs. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: The image was created using a variety ot techniques from autocad modelling to writing the code directly and modelling on the run. The lens flare effect was created using an INC file created by Nathan Kopp. (this file was based on work done by Chris Colefax, so thanks to both of them) The entire scene was fist modelled using very simple primitives for all objects with a default White pigment. This was done so that I could pay attention to the images composition without being distracted by colour or detail. After I was happy with the composition I then proceeded to add both colour and detail to the various objects. The cloak on the stairs was modelled in Autocad. I constructed a wire model of the stairs and then modelled the cloak around the wire frame. When the cloak was exported as a dxf and converted to pov format it only had to be inserted as it was modelled with the correct coordinates in Autocad. The shield and spears were created directly in the text editer as was most of the flying ship. The temples were drawn (not modelled) completly in autcad and exported into a pov model format using a customised lsp routine. It exports autocad information
