TITLE: Traffic NAME: H. E. Day (Howard Earl) COUNTRY: USA EMAIL: PovRayGuy@aol.com WEBPAGE: NONE TOPIC: Robots COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. MPGFILE: traffic.mpg JPGFILE: traffic.jpg RENDERER USED: Pov Ray 3.1 (WinMegaPatch) TOOLS USED: Adobe Photoshop 4.01 CREATION TIME: ~3 months RENDER TIME: ~84 hours HARDWARE USED: Pentium 200Mhz MMX 32MB RAM ANIMATION DESCRIPTION: I don't want to bore you with a long description of the MPG, so here it is. Short and sweet. Moverbot MK12 is hungry. Moverbot spies a battery laying on the pavement. Moverbot zipps toward it and picks it up. Moverbot spits it out in disgust. Empty. Jeremy Diode is running and almost steps on the Moverbot. Jeremy is late. Moverbot is understandably upset. Moverbot chases Jeremy down the street. Jeremy ignores Moverbot. Moverbot gets taken out by an oncoming garbage truck. Jeremy runs to the door of Antonio's Bar & Battery. Moverbot shorts out due to an overloaded circuit board. Jeremy looks around the bar. A Bardroid MK1567 is whining above the bar bringing a cheap lubricant to a Moverbot MK13 (The MK12 and MK13 differed only in the ability to get really, really blasted). Moverbot falls off the bar with an inebriated giggle. Jeremy sighs, looks up tells the Waiterbot (MK2) "Diode for two." The Waiterbot tells him to follow. Amy Silicon is bored. Amy has been waiting for her date for about 4 hours. Jeremy walks to the table and pulls a chair back. Amy looks up and says, "Jeremy?". "Sorry I'm late," says Jeremy. "What took you so long? Your flat's only two blocks away." Jeremy looks embarrassed and replies, "Traffic." HOW THIS ANIMATION WAS CREATED: I can't even start. Anything you want to know, how about you e-mail me with it. The amount of work that went into this is tremendous. All those details would be impossible to describe. Oh, by the way, this is the first IRTC animation to include spoken dialog. To my knowledge, anyway. Correct me if I'm wrong. I know the anim goes by fast, as I made it to be played at 20 fps, only to discover that AVI2MPG didn't support that speed. I had to up the speed to 24 fps. Sorry. All comments are welcome! I will try to respond to each. Enjoy! H.E. Day (2k) <>< PS I included a sort of gag joke in the registration holo the Waiterbot projects. Near the bottom is an entry that reads: Ken and Company Party of 25 (names a-d of members of the newsgroup) 1:00 AM BAR This may not be visible because of the MPG commpression. :)
