TITLE: Rubik Cube Animation COUNTRY: Belgium WEBPAGE: http://www.leplae.be/hp/ RENDERER USED: POV-Ray 3.02 TOOLS USED: CMPEG CREATION TIME: Final Render took approximately 10 hours HARDWARE USED: Pentium 100 MHz VIEWING RECOMMENDATIONS: Microsoft ActiveMovie works great ANIMATION DESCRIPTION: 6 Rubik Cubes rotate. The center one changes into a nice pattern, then changes back to a complete cube. This animation can also loop. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS ANIMATION WAS CREATED: I designed the cube and the scene with POV-Ray 3 for Windows. Because I did not see how to do the accumulating rotations all from within POV-Ray, I wrote a program to generate all individual frames. So, I do not use the animation mechanism in POV-Ray. The frames were then rendered with POV-Ray 3.02 for DOS from within Windows NT Workstation 4.0. The program RubikA.EXE generates all the POV files for the animation. It also generates Rubi.BAT which can be used to render all these source files. The program (RubikA.EXE) can generate every desirable sequence of rotations. It uses the standard notation scheme. The sequences in this animation are: D' U L' R B' F D' U and U' D F' B R' L U' D If you would like the source for the program (plain C), send me a message and tell me why you want it.
