EMAIL: steve@idsmail.com NAME: Steve Schaneville TOPIC: Toys COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. TITLE: Jack COUNTRY: USA RENDERER USED: trueSpace 3.1 TOOLS USED: None CREATION TIME: Modeling: 1 hour Animation: 30 minutes Rendering: 1 hour (183 frames) HARDWARE USED: Pentium 266 w/ 64 Mb RAM VIEWING RECOMMENDATIONS: Well, my 90 MHz isn't fast enough, but the 266 made the animation look good (30 fps). ANIMATION DESCRIPTION: Just a jack being thrown against a garage door. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS ANIMATION WAS CREATED: I'm not looking for any points for this... basically I modeled a garage door and a jack. I told trueSpace that the jack should have the properties of metal (properties include mass, air resistance, elasticity, and surface friction). I gave the jack an initial velocity and rotation vector, and said "go". Basically the computer did the whole animation, I only tweeked a little at the end (it bounced around for too long, very unrealistic). I just bought this program a few weeks ago. The only reason I submitted the animation is because I'm excited about having the program, and I wouldn't have been able to create this animation without it or a similar program (not to say it can't be done, I just don't have the ability).
