TITLE: "Hot n Cold" COUNTRY: Wales RENDERER USED: PovRay 3.5 TOOLS USED: Wings3D for all modeling, PoseRay for conversion to PoV, Wilbur for coin faces (even though you can't see them!), PhotoDeluxe 2.0 for conversion to JPEG, and Irfanview for compression. RENDER TIME: 3 hrs, 20 mins. HARDWARE USED: 600Mhz AMD Duron - 512MB RAM IMAGE DESCRIPTION: This image has a kind of surreal take on Fire and Ice where the solid brass dragons try to melt their Fire God out of a block of glass - and it's working! The glass surrounding the Fire God slowly starts turning to ice and melts... (What else could I say??!) ;o) DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: The glass block mesh has 14 flame meshes inside it. The flames were split in half to give them a 'D' profile so that I could line the backs up with the back of the main block. This is to give the whole block the illusion of being a laser-etched glass ornament. The flames were given the same ior as the main block but also with a small bump normal, and then I painted the inside with a red translucent laquer for the fiery colour. The mirror to the right 'is' a mirror, reflecting an image_map. The letter also employs an image_map. The pencil was fun to make and uses uv-mapping. The dragons are previous models but with flames coming from their mouths instead of a tongue. (The original tongue being duplicated about 20 times for the flame effect...) The main glass block and the water both use photons. //--------------------------------------------------------------------------- I believe that there are over 75 entries in this topic, so good luck all.
