Version), Corel photopaint 5 RENDER TIME: About 3 hours HARDWARE USED: K6-2 350, 64mb ram IMAGE DESCRIPTION: I new I shouldn't have thrown that toxic ooze down the toilet! DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: The whole thing was modelled in Rhino, Textures were created in Corel, it was rendered in BMRT and colour correction was done in Corel. Modelling: The toilet was made from lofted NURBS curves with a great deal of control point editing and re-weighting to get it right. The left tentacle was created first using lofted curves but this left me with 4 separate NURBS patches so I made the right one by using Rhino's "pipe" command and then moving control points to add creases in the skin. Texturing: The only texturing here was the tentacles, everything else is made with a Shader. The tentacle texture takes advantage of the UV mapping co-ordinates to allow a simple texture to follow the curves in the tentacle. The shaders are just the ones supplied with BMRT. Rendering: Rendered with radiosity to see if it added anything to the image. It didn't. Oh well. This was my first render with BMRT (well, first proper one anyway) and I think it has come out well, although I think this is due to the quality of the renderer and not my own limited skills. The image is a bit of a rush job which can be seen in the left tentacle, the interaction between the floor, the wall and the toilet and the lack of dirt on the toilet. I am going to work on this a bit more and then I'll put it on my website which is currently under construction so I wouldn't go there until about december.
