Mr.Winter's time is over and there's only winter left under his feet. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: I created Mr.Winter in Rhino. I used the loft command to create his body and hood. The arms, legs and "rings" are all created with the "sweep along path" command. The flame is a simple SPatch object with a halo texture. It's a linear, cylindrical, emitting halo with 3 rings of yellow in a red ground, the red parts have some transparency. I scanned in a photo of a butterfly from a book and edited the picture in PSP5. I painted everything white except for one of the wings and used the picture as an image map with max filter on the white. The body of the butterfly is a rotate sweep. For the body texture i used a small scaled bozo colormap with colors picked from the butterfly body on the scanned picture. For the plants I also used Rhino, they are mostly N-sided patch objects with a sweep along path as stalk. (I had some problems with the fern's stalk so I used a bezier patch for both the main stalk and for each of the small stalks.) To create the branch I used the L-system in Treedesigner and the texture is a simple bozo colormap with a granite bumpmap. The snails are created in SPatch, and I used Helixir for the shell. Frgen was used to create the stones, used their example "sphere.fr" and exported it to raw. Then I imported it into Crossroads and exported to 3DS and imported in Rhino and exported to UDO. (All this to get the triangles smooth. I don't know if there is a better way.) I used a grey bozo colormap with a granite bump-map for the texture. I don't like to use the examples, but I didn't have the time to learn how Frgen works. I used Moray to put all objects in one scene and I also added the water (a plane with a simple bumpmap-texture) there. This is my first "real" picture and in fact the first one (except for test images) that I used Rhino, Terrain Maker, SPatch, Treedesigner, Helixir and Frgen in.
