Submission for The Internet Raytracing Competition for the month of August Topic: "Alien Worlds" File name: cr-2door.jpg (800x600 24-bit JFIF) Picture title: Two Doors Submitted on: 27 August 1995 Submitted by: Chip Richards (chipr@email.niestu.com) Other files: cr-2door.txt (this file), cr-2door.zip (POV files and image maps) Distribution: All files Copyright 1995 by Chip Richards, all rights reserved (but negotiable!) Rendered on: Intel 486 DX2/50 running Linux 1.2.8 (Caldera Network Desktop) Rendering time: 4 hours 48 minutes, approximately Rendered with: Persistence of Vision Raytracer Ver 2.2linux386 (with Sced "transform" patches) Other software: Sced (modelling), XFig 2.1pl8 (sketchpad), NetPBM tools (QRT --> PPM conversion), XV 3.10 (PPM --> JPEG conversion) For this, my second entry, I wanted something a little closer to home, and a lighter subject (both in attitude and illumination) than my first entry. For anyone who doesn't think they're looking at alien worlds, try spending ten minutes in the "wrong" one. You'll truly know how an alien feels. (You think they treated "The Blob" badly?!) The entire image is comprised of primitives and CSG objects, created and placed with Sced, with the single exception of the door "handles", or push-plates. Those are wireframe objects, keyed in as an OFF fileset by hand from a rough pencil-and-paper-and-xfig sketch. The Sced scene file is over 400kb, due to some unfortunate fumbling on my part. The wood textures are from the POV library, and the ceiling is a barely-modified "Cork".
