TITLE: DESTRUCTION COUNTRY: Croatia WEBPAGE: / RENDERER USED: 3DS MAX 5 TOOLS USED: TMPGEncoder HARDWARE USED: Intel Pentium 2,4; 512 Mb RAM; ATI Radeon 9000 VIEWING RECOMMENDATIONS: Windows Media Player ANIMATION DESCRIPTION: Alien invasion and the destruction of Earth DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS ANIMATION WAS CREATED: The whole animation is divided into 6 scenes, 7 if you count the intro. WARP TUNEL The first scene represents travel through a warp tunnel. The tunnel starts near Jupiter, it leads through an asteroid field, passes by Mars , then the Moon and finally it ends near Earth. I first created the planets, then I made a spline(curve) which passes near these planets. The camera follows this path. I also added a noise controller to the camera target which made the ride through the warp tunnel more bumpier. The asteroid field is composed of 3 particle clouds with instanced geometry as the particle type. The particles where spheres with a noise modifer applyed on them. The warp tunel is a loft created around the spline. Materials for the planets are standard which come with 3ds MAX. To asteroids I applied a moon map(diffuse map) and gave it a brown look. WARP IN The second scene is a warp in sequence. This is a STAR TREK rip off but you have to admit it looks really good. The starship was made about 2 years ago for another project. I did make a new model for this animation but MAX kept reporting errors and shutting down. I think I made to much polygons. The key to making a warp in or warp out sequence is not just to control the distance of the object but also the size of the object. When the spaceship blocks the Sun you can see lightrays - this was made with volume light. FLY BYE Not much to say here... DEATH RAY The spaceship charges its cannon and fires. The ray is just a cylinder with glow applied on it. SHOCKWAVE Shockwave is actually a sphere but I animated the hemisphere spin control and applied a noise modifier on sphere. Camera follows a path around the planet. DEATH RAY BURST The burst was made with a particle emmiter and glow. DESTRUCTIoN OF EARTH AND THE MOON This was all made with particles( Particle Array, Super Spray) and space warps (Particle Bomb).
